No Media?

If there was no media, I think, in general, it would be an improvement. We would not have people constantly telling us what we have to look like, buy, wear, act like, and eat. I think in that regard to a lack of media pressure, it would be a good thing. However there are some bad things to having no media, like fewer people would know what other cultures were like. In fact , not only couldn't they communicate through things like computers and television, they probably wouldn't even want to travel so people would probably be a lot more bigoted.
However I don't think there are that many cultures without some sort of media. Even Communist Russia, Medieval Europe, Asia ( both Ancient and Modern), Ancient Greece and Egypt all had media; in fact even many tribes in the jungle had media even before communication with"civilized" cultures. Now digital media is the current division from the haves and have nots or even the "civilized" and "uncivilized" itself. In this day and age, words like underdeveloped sound negative even if the people are happy. We are trained to believe they are not. It might alter their whole way of life and they would have trouble adjusting to the new fast paced living.
Digital media however is very new but even at this stage we are now used to getting information quickly. In a way we are both spoiled and more informed. However some people are not even informed. Digital media has also had controversy over porn sites, although porn isn't necesssrily bad, there are many other things to do on the web as well. If this is the only thing it is used for, it is a bit of a waste. I enjoy the videos on youtube. the only thing I really don't like about youtube is that there are videos that cannot be played anymore because of some glitch with the web.
