An online symposium at the University of New Mexico explored the following concerns about the impact of digital media on daily life:
1. Identity and Self-Image
2. Credibility and the reliability of information
3. Civic and Social Involvement
4. The Arts, creativity and design
5. Social Networking
6. Educational potentials and implications
All of these are important issues, but I'm most interested the issues of "credibility and reliability of information, civic and social involvement, and the arts, creativity and design.
how do we really know if we can trust any source of info not just the Internet. The web is a bit unreliable because anyone can fake information even when it seem that everything is proven and genuine you can't tell for sure that it's the truth. There are always ways of checking the best is to go to every site and if they all seem consistent it's probably true however even that method isn't foolproof.
I like to see people getting involved in things like citizen participation in things like the Obama McCain Election and many people nowadays get political news from the web. I have seen several ads for Obama since I'm on his side but just to be fair and balance things out I think I should see at least one Republican ad for McCain. I also remember seeing an add for voting which makes you think at first that it is for one of the parties; but it was a non partisan add for non voters to get them to vote.
I also like to see people illustrating interesting things on the Internet and making videos that express their creativity. It can be anything from a collage of pictures o footage of a school play to a fully digital film. I love to see films by others on my computer in fact these late night computer sessions are usually because of distractions of that nature
